Blog 24: Last Presentation Reflection

(1) Positive Statement

What are you most proud of in your block presentation and/or your senior project? Why?
Making presentation time is a huge part since a lot of people struggled with it. Also it's nice to have so much knowledge on my topic from my research
(2) Questions to Consider

a.     What assessment would you give yourself on your block presentation?  Use the component contract to defend that assessment.

AE       P          AP       CR       NC

P- Did all requirements at a above satisfactory level
b.     What assessment would you give yourself on your overall senior project?
Use the component contract to defend that assessment.

AE       P          AP       CR       NC

Low P
(3) What worked for you in your senior project?
The researching part really gave me the most of the project however maybe just require a smaller quantity but higher quality sources. Also volunteering is great because I  got to experience the actual profession hands on.
(4) (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your senior project? Procrastination and senoritis. If I could go back I wish I could motivate myself better.

(5) Finding Value

How has the senior project been helpful to you in your future endeavors?   Be specific and use examples.

Senior Project really helped my decided what I wanted to do in life. It kind of forced everyone to think about what could be a possible future career. Although I may not do marketing, It has gave me experience to know what I want and don't want to do. Marketing information will still be helpful for a business and I already know a lot. This information will be retained in the future and improved on.

Blog 22: Independent Component 2

LITERAL
(a) Include this statement: “I, Noah, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.”
(b) Cite your source regarding who or what article or book helped you complete the independent component.

Claudia Yuskoff- mentor Conill
Hours
(c) Explain what you completed.
For the weekend of 16-18 my mentor took my to Coachella to experience the final campaign product live. The previous times I wen't in to the office I was going to her meetings and taking notes down when she was talking to the influencers. Conill was planning on working with Zedd, who is a fairly popular Russian/German DJ. Just in case and for future reference my mentor had me research the entire line up to see their social footprint. It was something she her and her team to do so they could have more choices if partnerships don't work out or they want another person. We ended up still using Zedd as a partner and I was able to assist my aunt at coachella. Because it was a serious even't she had me be an errand boy and deliver messages (Because coachella is large and her crew would be spread out). She also put me in charge of managing her schedule and I had to make sure that we were always on time for all the events. It was harder than it sounded because sometimes you would drift off watching the artists performing and having a lot of freedom to do whatever you want. It's the agencies job to keep the client (Zed) happy so that's why I was the errand boy. Sadly I didn't get to meet him but I was near him and did get his beverages for him and whatever else he wanted.
(d) Defend your work and explain the component's significance and how it demonstrates 30 hours of work.   Provide evidence (photos, transcript, art work, videos, etc) of the 30 hours of work.   T-Mobile Facebook
If you going on T-mobiles Facebook you will find videos and pictures of Coachella's favorite moments and stars.. The 360 Degrees Coachella video is cool because it allows you to actually 360 the video. Which means you can use your mouse to turn the way the camera is facing. So try it out, I witnessed them editing the videos and the making of them.
(e)How did the component help you answer your EQ? Please include specific examples to illustrate how it helped.
I got to see how all the work comes together to create a final product. I was finally able to experience it hands on and how the more work you put in, the more you get out of it for any business.

Answer 2

1.  What is your EQ?
What is the best way a business can market itself to consumers successfully?
2.  What is your first answer? (In complete thesis statement format)
Being able to turn your company into a "love mark", so that you build customers with loyalty and love for your brand/business.
3.  What is your second answer? (In complete thesis statement format)
Being able to budget your marketing/advertising as efficiently as possible
4.  List three reasons your answer is true with a real-world application for each.
-Starting businesses need a low cost way to began advertising
-Learning how to take your company to a next level requires better promotion
-People don't know how much choices they have when it comes to marketing
5.  What printed source best supports your answer?
I have many online sources that have gone over 10+ choices you have to market yourself.
6.  What other source supports your answer?
All online sources, but multiple sources combined is what gives all the details needed.
7.  Tie this together with a  concluding thought.
There are a lot of different marketing/advertising tactics you can take. The biggest question is whether to go with traditional marketing which can vary from posters to commercials. The new big and cost efficient way is to advertise through social media.

Independent Component 2 Approval

1.Describe in detail what you plan to do for your 30 hours.
What I plan on doing is creating a fake social media account for my business. So I would create a twitter and pose it as my business I want. I'll make several sources, find pictures, make videos like a real social media site.
2.  Discuss how or what you will do to meet the expectation of showing 30 hours of evidence.

To show my 30 hours, I would show you guys the twitter page or the other media site I use.

3.  Explain how this component will help you explore your topic in more depth.
Doing this for my component will help me put my information to use and practice. I will figure out how to advertise my company from a online perspective since it is chosen over traditional marketing currently.

Independent Component 1

  • LITERAL
    (a) Write: “I,  Noah Cortez, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30+ hours of work.”
    (b) Cite your source regarding who or what article or book helped you complete the independent component.
Lovemarks by Brian SheehanClaudia Yuskoff (310) 779-6884
  • (c) Update your hours in your Senior Project Hours link. Make sure it is clearly labeled with hours for individual sessions as well as total hours.
Explain what you completed.
After working 30+ hours I worked on several other marketing campaigns. My first campaign I worked on was Coachella ( click link). My mentor, Claudia Yuscoff, told me for most part I would be doing research (at least campaign wise). She gave me the lineup of several 100 performers and I realizes she wasn't kidding when she said she had work I could do. So what I did for Coachella's music festival campaign was research the performers for Latino roots. The reason I was researching for this is because Conill is a marketing firm that focuses specifically at the Latino population. So we look for people who can promote the brand and gain a strong following and liking from the consumers. If they have Latino roots, then it's obviously easier to gain the attention of  the Latino population. If they can't find someone, it's not really a problem because the main part of the advertisement is finding some who suits it.  But the goal is to find both so I write down people I think they could possible use to help T-Mobile to promote. So the most important part is finding someone suitable for your advertisement (look&attitude) My second campaign I began to work on was 2 EDM Festivals, called Electric Zoo (click link) and Wonderland. My aunt gave a list of over 100 performers to research for the same reason as above. I did research for them most recent Latino awards show and they created several vine posts to market it. I couldn't find the exact link to the actual carpet videos but I have their vine page( T-Mobile Vine). For this I didn't do much research but more observing considering it was the Latino awards. I went in several meetings where my aunt was talking to T-Mobile about their vision of the advertisement. Then as all the previous projects and my future projects I watched how the work all ties together to create the final product. The last one I've worked on and that they're wrapping up soon, is the super bowl commercial for T-Mobile and Toyota. I checked if any other brands had given any teasers early and at previous Super Bowl commercials to see and take notes about the fundamentals of what they look for in a good commercial. This is what I have accumulated so far, each Campaign length varied on how big it was and how much work was estimated.
  • INTERPRETIVE
Defend your work and explain its significance to your project and how it demonstrates 30 hours of work.   Provide evidence (photos, transcript, art work, videos, etc) of the 30 hours of work.
So as I explained above I've worked on several campaigns and provided essential research for choices that were made. My mentor had told me that they always wanted more research on anything that would help them advance in the campaign or take different routes but they didn't have time with multitasking and quick deadlines. Also at the meetings I took notes on the conversation just in case we wanted to bring up a point. I wanted to show the list of research I completed but I couldn't do it on a google doc, I guess their firm specifically wanted word. Next time I will remember to bring a flash drive so I can show the research notes I jotted down. But that's the boring part anyway, the fun part to see if the final product and I put them as links in the previous section where I talked about what I completed.
  • APPLIED
How did the component help you understand the foundation of your topic better?  Please include specific examples to illustrate this.
My extra 30 hours really helped me to grasp an understanding for the world of marketing. I only worked on 2 major campaigns with my previous hours so researching onto more campaigns really interested me these 2 events were different because they were bigger and more publicized. The musical Festival was popular but mainly upon that specific music fan group. Award shows are pretty popular here in America and the Super Bowl is one of Americas biggest sport events every year.

Lesson 2 Reflection

1.What are you most proud of in your Lesson 2 Presentation and why? I would be most proud of my presentation and making time. I felt like it went smooth meaning I didn't speak too fast or too slow and got in a lot of information.

2. a.     What assessment would you give yourself on your Lesson 2 Presentation (self-assessment)?

       AE       P          AP       CR       NC

     b.     Explain why you deserve that grade using evidence from the Lesson 2 component contract.
I don't know where that document is but Rivas told me that I had completed what was asked of me so I at least deserve a P. But the Prezi took a little extra work and the presentation went smooth with good quality so I think a AE would be nice.

3. What worked for you in your Lesson 2?
I think what worked the best is my book source. I think it gave me a different but really important source. Many top brands or people with marketing careers have read the version I read or possibly the older version, which explains why my mentor has it.
4. What didn't work? If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your Lesson 2? I think anything major was a problem. The only thing that I might have forgot was to put my EQ on every slide. But I think no one really reads it after the first time, so maybe re mentioning and rewriting it at the end of my presentation would work. Some people also cited their sources in the presentation, I did mention mine verbally but not directly source it. Again I feel like it's stupid to show people a link or book citation, because to the audience it has no significance. I do feel mentioning verbally is good though just not a visual link.

5. What do you think your answer #2 is going to be? I'll probably go over how to market if you're not lucky enough to work with a marketing firm.
